Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between
two teams of 11 players on an oval field, at the centre of which is a rectangular 20 metre long pitch. One
team bats, trying to score as many runs as possible while the
other team bowls and fields, trying to dismiss the
batsmen and thus limit the runs scored by the batting team. A run is scored by
the striking batsman hitting the ball with his bat, running to the opposite end
of the pitch and touching the crease there without getting out
(more info about getting down further down). The teams switch between batting and fielding at the end
of an innings.
Scoring -
One run is made when both players have ran to the other ends
of the pitch.
If it is hit out of the ground, by either rolling or
bouncing out, it is 4 runs.
If it hit out of the boundary on the full, it is 6 runs.
How to get out –
Balled out – when the bowler balls at your stumps and
the bail are knocked of.
Run Out – while the batter runs, a fielder gets the ball
and hits the wicket before the batter reaches the other end.
Caught out – when the ball is hit in mid air and a
fielder catches it.
Stumped out – when the ball has gone straight to the
wicket keeper and the batter is to far out of the crease, the wicket keeper
simply knocks the bails of with the ball.
